Digital and Editorial Content Specialist

Barcelona
Full-time
Permanent employee

Your mission

We are looking for an Editorial and Digital Content Specialist who splits time evenly between producing strong editorial content and working hand in hand with the digital team on how that content, and the platforms it lives on, actually function. This isn't a writing role with some SEO on the side: it's a role built around the handoff between editorial and digital, making sure both sides are pulling in the same direction.

Day to day, that means writing and editing news, game coverage, and storytelling, and just as often, sitting with the digital team to work through site and app improvements, test new features, troubleshoot how content displays, and push forward SEO and on-page changes that require going back and forth with developers and product owners.
This role supports the Editorial Lead on the digital side of the operation, helping carry the day-to-day coordination with Digital and Product so that editorial priorities translate into actual site and app changes.

Euroleague Basketball's audience spans more than 20 markets, each following its own clubs closely, from Zalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania to Real Madrid in Spain to Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul in Turkiye. This role will work across that full competitive landscape, while also helping flag and follow up on web or app issues as they come up day to day.

Reporting to the Editorial Lead, this role works closely with the wider editorial team, and equally closely with Digital and Product, acting as the connective tissue between what editorial wants to publish and what the platforms can support.

What You'll Do
  • Produce daily content. Write and edit transfer news, game stories, and season storylines, following established editorial templates and house style.
  • Work directly with the digital team. Partner with Digital and Product on web and app development work: scoping feature requests, reporting and following up on bugs, and reviewing how new features and layoutsactually workfor content and fans.
  • Test andQAthe platforms. Regularly check euroleaguebasketball.netandthe EuroLeague and EuroCup apps for how articlesrender, how navigation and content modules behave, and flag or help fix whatisn'tworking.
  • Apply andmonitorSEO. Put SEO practices into daily editorial work, headlines, metadata, URL structure, internal linking, image tagging, and track howthat'sperforming, in line with the standards set by the Editorial Lead.
  • Publish across platforms. Get content live on euroleaguebasketball.net and the EuroLeague and EuroCup apps accurately and on time, especially around livegamesand fast-moving news.
  • Translate between editorial and digital. Help editorial colleagues understandwhat'stechnically possible on theplatforms, andhelp the digital team understand what editorialactually needsfrom a feature or fix.
  • Maintain editorial quality. Applythe team's style guide consistently, from headline conventions to sourcing standards, and flag inconsistencies before publishing.
  • Cover the full club landscape. Stay on top of news across EuroLeague and EuroCup clubs, drawing on original-language sources where needed and coordinating with colleagues covering specific markets.

Your profile

What You Bring:
  • 3+ years in digital content, sports journalism, or editorial roles, with real exposure to working alongside a web or app development/product team, not just a CMS.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the discipline to follow established style guides and templates closely.
  • Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals: keyword considerations, metadata, on-page structure, and how they apply to fast-moving news content.
  • Comfort talking through web and app functionality with developers or product people, and enough technical curiosity to test features, spot issues, and describe them clearly.
  • Strong knowledge of European basketball; familiarity with EuroLeague and EuroCup clubs and competitive structure is a strong plus.
  • Comfort working with source material in multiple languages, or willingness to coordinate closely with colleagues who do.
  • Ability to work flexibly around the game schedule, including evenings and weekends during live games and major events like the Final Four.

  • EU nationality or a valid Spanish work/residency permit.
  • Willing to travel across the EU (10–15%).
  • Genuine passion for sports; prior experience in a sports-related role is a plus.
